Honda’s capable middleweight V twin

The VT500C ‘Shadow was introduced in 1983 like the Ascot and Euro using the same 491 cc (30.0 cu in) OHC three-valve, liquid cooled  engine, shaft drive transmission, and 6 speed gearbox. It featured chrome side covers and black engine covers. The headlight was chrome and rectangular and it carried a single horn. For 1984 models The fuel tank and rear mudguard were painted the same colours and the chrome, rectangular headlight was retained. 1985/6 saw a swap to a round headlight and a two piece seat with integral backrest, engine covers were chromed and the fins more pronounced, all topped off with twin horns.

The VT 500 Shadow was born at the start of Honda’s long line of Shadow V twins which continues to this day.
